Maati Faris

Maati Faris is the 820 Residential Program Director and has over 15 years of experience in both therapeutic and administrative roles within the mental health field. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), holding both my LMSW from Adelphi University and CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) at the master’s level. Maati is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and certified in trauma-informed care through New York University, with a strong commitment to evidence-based, client-centered approaches. Additionally, he holds a Master of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, both of which have greatly informed his arts-based therapeutic programming and trauma-informed care.
Over the years, Maati has developed and led staff trainings in clinical writing, provided coaching and mentorship to clinical teams, and created trauma-informed, arts-based therapeutic programming. He has worked with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and has extensive experience supporting individuals with ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and other complex mental health needs. His work has involved collaborating across multiple interdisciplinary teams and organizations to provide holistic and coordinated care. Maati’s leadership style emphasizes collaboration, empathy, and fostering a safe, supportive environment for both clients and staff.
